Mrs. Schmidt's class did an excellent job researching animals last week. They were able to choose the animal they wanted to research and used the iPads to read about their animal on the World Book Online for Kids website.
After they did their research they typed and illustrated their story on the iPads using an app called Scribble Press. These students wrote some wonderful reports.
We recorded each student reading his/her report using a green screen for the background. They then each picked an image of their animal to put on the green screen. These are some fun reports to listen to. Enjoy!
Mrs. Woodward's 7th and 8th grade History Class has been learning about primary sources. Using primary sources she is having each student create a THINGLINK. The topic they are reporting on include cattle drives and cow towns in the late 1800's.
The THINGLINK'S they have created are captivating! Please check them out-all you need to do is click on the links below.
The students from my Technology Class are getting pretty fancy with their volcano reports. They were each assigned an active volcano and presented their information using Green Screen by Do Ink and iMovie. They took images from the actual volcano they were reporting on and used them in conjunction with the Green Screen App. They will now post their iMovie/Green Screen project on their blogs and write about what they did. These kids gave some excellent reports posing as reporters and volcanologists, all on the iPads. Great App Smashing! Enjoy!
We had a Mystery Number Skype with another first grade class!
Using number charts to 100 we asked each other questions until we guessed their number. Their mystery number was "43" and ours was "40". First graders sure do know their numbers! It was great learning fun for both classes!
Mrs. Shearon's guided reading students researched Bleeding Kansas as it related to their guided reading book, Across Five Aprils By Irene Hunt. They prepared slide shows, created a Lego model of Gettysburg and used artifacts to present to Mr. Jensen's high school history class. The presentation provided some great information, nice work! Below is their presentation.
I've just learned, thanks to my friend Staci Hansen-Hesston's Technology Integration Specialist that the app YouTube Kids is now available. This will be great for our younger students!
Mrs. Woodward's 8th grade History Class studied Bleeding Kansas and were given the assignment to re-tell the story in a way that 5th grade students would understand. With the task at hand the students got busy with their partners and used the App Educreations to teach the 5th graders about Bleeding Kansas. We have some very creative kids in 8th grade, enjoy!
Miss Suderman's 2nd graders sure do know how to write some creative stories. If you click on the below links, you can see different versions of the tale There Was An Old Lady, through the eyes of a 2nd grade author.
Miss Suderman first read the classic tale to her students then they were given a graphic organizer to plan their story. Next they wrote out and illustrated their story. The last thing they did was create a digital story using the iPad App called Educreations. In Educreations they typed, illustrated and when they were completely finished with the story they recorded their voices. Great writing 2nd grade!
We made "hard copies" of the digital stories, now the students will be able to read them at home.
